DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - November 17, 2013 – Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI), congratulates Boeing on the first flight of the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner – the second member of the 787 family of airplanes. Donaldson produces the Air Purification System (APS™) for the 787-8 and 787-9.

The 787 family consists of super-efficient airplanes with passenger-pleasing features that bring the economics of large jet transports to the middle of the market, using 20 percent less fuel than any other airplanes of their size. At 20 feet (6 meters) longer than the 787-8, the 787-9 will extend the family in both capacity and range, carrying up to 290 passengers up to 8,500 nautical miles. First delivery of the new 787-9 is scheduled for mid-2014.

“Donaldson is proud that our cutting-edge Air Purification System is among the advanced technologies that contribute to the 787 family’s passenger-pleasing features,” said General Manager Mark Rigby of Donaldson Aerospace & Defense. “The APS’ combination of a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter with a carbon-based chemical filter ensures that the 787’s more comfortable cabin air remains remarkably clean and free of odors.”

Airline customers around the world have ordered 388 787-9s, accounting for 41 percent of all 787 orders.
