DONALDSON PROVIDING ADVANCED AIR FILTRATION SYSTEMS FOR UPGRADES OF CANADIAN ARMY LIGHT ARMORED VEHICLE

Washington, D.C. — OCTOBER 20, 2013 — Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI) is providing advanced engine air filtration systems to improve the long-term performance and reliability of the Canadian Army’s LAV III light armored vehicles under an eight-year program to upgrade that battle-proven ground fleet.

Donaldson Aerospace & Defense Group was selected in 2012 to supply approximately 400 advanced filtration systems by General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada. That company had been awarded the contract in October 2011 for the Canadian Forces’ LAV III Upgrade Project to provide the Canadian Army with enhanced survivability, operational capability and long-term performance. That includes extending the service life of the light armored vehicles to 2035. The Army’s fleet of LAV IIIs saw extensive use during deployed operations in Afghanistan in recent years.

“Donaldson’s selection to support the Canadian Forces’ LAV III Upgrade Project is another high point for our team,” said Steve Moon, Donaldson Company’s Director, Defense Ground Vehicle Products. “We are particularly proud to work with General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada to help protect the LAV III and the troops it carries.”

Donaldson’s work with General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada extends its long tradition of working with U.S. and allied efforts to modernize military vehicles, airplanes and rotorcraft with advanced filtration solutions that enhance mission capabilities, reduce the need to procure new equipment, cut operating costs and increase support for forces at home and in the field.

Donaldson’s advanced military vehicle filtration technologies will be displayed in its exhibit at Booth 3443 during the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition, October 21-23, 2013, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Donaldson’s advanced engine air filtration system for the LAV III Upgrade Project provides more than 99.99 percent efficiency in capturing airborne particulates that can damage engine components. The system consists of a customized Air Cleaner Assembly with a Strata™ Panel Pre-Cleaner, PowerCore® Ultra-Web® Filter Elements and proprietary Filter Element Retention Mechanisms for the LAV III.

The PowerCore® filters and retention mechanism are designed to ensure that no sand or dust can leak into clean-air ducting and to reduce the possibility of improper maintenance by preventing closure of a retention mechanism unless the filter is installed properly. The Ultra-Web® filter media provides up to 10 times higher efficiency than conventional cellulose media and is especially well suited to capture fine dust commonly found in desert environments.
