DONALDSON TO EXHIBIT INDUSTRY-LEADING ENGINE PROTECTION AND LIQUID FILTRATION PRODUCTS DURING HELITECH 2013

LONDON, UK, September 23, 2013 – Donaldson Aerospace & Defense, a division of Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE: DCI) highlights its innovative engine air and liquid filtration products during this year’s Helitech Expo in London UK 24-26 September 2013, Stand L41. Donaldson will display some of its many Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) systems including its Universal Filter Module (UFM) developed for the Sikorsky S-61 helicopter and compatible with other aircraft types.

A welcome equipment addition to the versatile S-61 series helicopter, the IBF solution allows operation in adverse environments while substantially reducing engine damage potential. The system features streamlined fairings with removable filter assemblies integrated to the existing engine inlet, creating a sealed intake plenum.

As with all certified Donaldson IBFs, the engine inlet filtration system includes an alternate inlet air bypass system. An emergency bypass capability is an important IBF feature absent in most traditional sand filters and particle separators.

“The UFM is a scalable technology, applicable to the S-61 series of aircraft and beyond,” noted Business Development Director Robert Stenberg. “These important twin-engine aircraft have operated without adequate engine protection alternatives for many years; now we offer a solution proven to reduce engine damage and lower engine overhaul costs.” Commercial availability of the S-61 IBF system is via a joint program with Canada’s Coulson Aircrane.

A simple and compact cockpit switch, common with existing Donaldson certified IBF systems, allows indication and activation of the bypass system. An integral Filter Maintenance Aid also allows for on-condition inspections pre- and post-flight to assist in mission planning and visual inspection of filter condition.

Providing the most comprehensive line of IBF solutions, Donaldson Aerospace & Defense is the industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance engine IBF systems for commercial and military propulsion systems. Through its St. Louis, Missouri and Paris, France locations, Donaldson provides certified IBF solutions for the AgustaWestland AW109E/S/SP, AW119 Koala, AW119Ke/Kx and AW139; Bell 205A1, 206B, 407, 206L-3/4, 206L-1(C30), 206LR, 230, 429 and 430; Eurocopter EC130, AS350 B/BA/B1/B2/B3/B3e, AS350s with Soloy or Heli-Lynx Honeywell engine conversions; and MD Helicopters MD 369H Series, MD 500D/E/F and MD 900/902.
